5 #snacks you must not miss this #monsoon

With simple ingredients that are available in our kitchens all the time, you can come up with quick and delightful snacks and enjoy the monsoons. Without spending too much time in your kitchen, you can prepare these simple and quick delicacies and enjoy the lovely rains, sipping your hot cuppa.

Momos Recipe

2 1/2 cups Maida
1 Cabbage, grated
1/2 tbsp Salt
2 medium-sized Onions (chopped)
1 tsp Ginger paste
A pinch of Baking Powder

For Chutney
6 Garlic flakes, chopped
6 Red Chillies, chopped
Little amount of Vinegar

– Blend maida, baking powder and water to make smooth dough.
– Leave the dough overnight. Make medium sized chapattis from dough.
– Divide into two halves from the middle like samosas.
– Now make a mixture of grated cabbage, onion, ginger paste and salt to taste to stuff in.
– Fill the half-piece chapatti with this mixture.
– Repeat the step to make all the momos.
– Steam these momos in an idli utensil for about 10 minutes. Or you can also fry them.
– For chutney, churn garlic, red chilli and vinegar in a mixer. Serve the momos with chutney.

Chicken 65 Recipe

3 lb Boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 1/2 tsp All spice, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom
1 tsp Garlic paste
1 tsp Ginger paste
1 1/2 tsp Red chilies powder
2 1/2 tsp All-purpose flour
1 Egg
3 Drops food coloring, red
2 1/2 Cups yoghurt
10 Green chilies
1 1/5 tsp Cornflour
2 tsp Lime juice
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt to taste
Onions, for garnishing

– Add corn flour, all purpose flour, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, egg,all spice and salt to thick batter.
– Add water if essential.
– Combine chicken pieces to the batter and marinate for about one hour.
– Deep fry the marinated chicken pieces till they turn golden.
– Take a sauce pan and heat 4 tsp oil.
– Combine fried chicken pieces, slit chillies, yogurt, red color and salt if desired.
– Fry for about 4 to 5 minutes and remove it from the heat.
– Now add lime juice, mix well and garnish it with onions.

Corn Balls Recipe

2 Teacup boiled corn
5 Boiled potatoes
5 tbsp Grated cheese
5 Green chillies
3 tbsp Coriander
250 gms Paneer
2 Teacup maida
Chilli sauce
3 Teacups milk
5 tbsp Butter
5 tbsp Maida
Salt to taste

– Melt the butter in a pan and seethe the flour for about half minute.
– Add the milk into it and cook till the sauce becomes thick.
– Chop the paneer and potatoes.
– Add the corn, cheese, potatoes, green chillies, paneer, coriander and the above prepared sauce.
– Combine salt and mix well. Make the balls. Mix the flour thoroughly in 1-1/2 teacups of water.
– Dip the balls in flour paste. Roll the balls in breadcrumbs.
– Deep-fry these balls in oil. They are ready to serve.

Kachori Recipe

1 1/2 cup Flour
1 cup Yellow Moong Dal (soaked)
1/4 cup Gram Flour (besan)
1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds (saunf), powdered
1/4 tsp Cumin Powder (jeera)
1/4 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder (lal mirch)
1/ 4 tsp Baking Powder
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

– Add flour, salt and baking powder and make smooth dough.
– Grind the soaked yellow moong dal.
– Heat oil and fry grinded dal lightly in it.
– Mix all seeds powder, gram masala and red chilli powder.
– Cook it till it turns dry. Combine gram flour and stir it for while. Stuffing mixture for kachori is ready.
– Roll out small balls of equal size out of the dough. Fill the mixture in it and seal the edges.
– Heat the oil and fry the balls till it turns brown. Serve it with green chutney.

Banana Chips Recipe

6 Raw Bananas (peeled)
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
Oil for deep-frying
Salt to taste


- Add the peeled bananas in salted iced water.
- Chop the bananas in water and add turmeric.
- Keep in water for 10 minutes and then drain out water completely.
- Transfer to a kitchen cloth to remove the moisture. Heat oil till it starts fuming.
- Deep-fry the slices till almost crisp. Add few slices at a time.
- Prepare paste of 1/2 tsp water and 1/4 tsp salt.
- Combine this paste to oil.
- This will make the slices crispier.
- Repeat the procedure for remaining slices.
- Drain the chips on an absorbent paper.
- Cool and store them in an airtight container.
