5 new year #resolutions for #healthier #skin

skincareSticking to any kind of New Year resolution is easier when you have a goal in mind -and having healthy, radiant skin is one, that is an apt motivator for most .

Here are a few resolutions you need to stick to achieve this.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN

“Using a sunscreen at least twice daily, with re-application every time you venture out, should be as routine to you, as all your other daily activities. It is a must irrespective of your age,” says Avni Amlani, skincare professional. Harmful sunrays not only makes your skin darker, but it also gives rise to problems like pigmentation, premature wrinkles and early ageing. Apply a good quality sunblock with at least 30plus sun protection factor, liberally on all exposed areas of your body.

ENSURE YOU GET YOUR DAILY DOSE OF VITAMINS, MINERALS

Dr Nupur Krishnan, clinical nutritionist says, “A balanced, nutritious diet is a basic requirement. Opt for green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts daily.” Ask your dermatologist to prescribe vitamins and antioxidants capsules that can fulfill the required quota, that your diet can’t give you.

FOLLOW A REGULAR SKINCARE REGIME

Many underestimate the sheer power of a simple cleansing-toning-moistursing routine.Just doing this twice a day with good quality dermatologist recommended products, can make a marked visible difference to your skin.Dr Apratim Goel, dermatologist says, “Begin by using a makeup remover, follow this with a deep cleanser, then use a non-foaming face wash. Then use a toner to close pores and smooth on a nourishing moisturiser.”

OPT FOR A DETOXIFICATION

There are a plethora of options for detoxifying your system. Opt for one, in consultation with your doctor, which suits your best. Removing toxins from your body, can make your skin glow with health and vitality.

MOISTURISE DAILY

Every day, after bath, you must massage in a moisturiser or body butter, on your entire body. Aesthetician Ritu Tanwar says, “In the beginning of the year when the temperatures dip, this is especially mandatory. Your back, hands, legs and feet are the worst victims of the dry, dehydrating cold weather. Exfoliate dead skin then apply mosituriser. You feet could be treated with paraffin treatment to care of calloused skin.”

Opt for a full body oil massage, a manicure and pedicure every fortnight.
