According to a recent study published in a journal named Acta Paediatrica, the excessive use of social media can lead to reduced sleeping hours among children.

The research was conducted among the Canadian students aged between 11-20 years which revealed a dose-response relation between the over-use of social media and the shorter sleep duration among the students.

There were in total 5242 participants in the study out of which 63.6% slept less than recommended and 73.4% students reported that they used social media for at least an hour per day.

“The impact social media can have on sleep patterns is a topic of great interest given the well-known adverse effects of sleep deprivation on health,” said senior author Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput, of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute.

He further added that electronic screen devices are pervasive in today’s society and they are just starting to understand their risks and benefits.

How To Keep Your #Relationship #Strong

Nearly everyone knows that couple in their life is unshakeable. They are a couple who’ve been together for what seems like forever, they’re solid and strong, and basically, well, #relationshipgoals. If you’re starting a new relationship or looking to strengthen your relationship, you might start to think about how those couples are how they are. How do they keep their relationship so bulletproof over such a long time? Lucky you, because there are some common habits of couples in strong, long-lasting relationships, which means the secrets of those relationships could become your secrets too.

Relationships

Relationships, of any kind, can be tricky business. So, if they were something you could do to strengthen your relationships and just overall make they better, wouldn’t you? Relationships aren’t easy, they have their bumps and they can take a whole lot of work.

Don’t Romanticise

It’s easy for us to see so-called “perfect” relationships, amongst your friends or family members and think that it just comes naturally to them. And yes, there are some parts of relationships that are easy. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t require work.

The Reward

If you are willing to put in the effort, the time, and the attention then think about incorporating some of these habits of strong, long-lasting couples into your life and relationships. Maybe, you and your SO will be the new #relationshipgoals.

Take Responsibility

Christene Lozano, a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified sex addiction therapist candidate, advises “Recognize your part in arguments”. Accepting that everything isn’t their fault and you played a part yourself, will make your relationship more solid and less like a war.

It Takes Two

There will never be a situation in your relationship where it is entirely one person’s fault. Most commonly it is a situation where a mistake is made and then there is an opportunity for the partner to fix it that is passed by. Realizing that it will almost never be just one person’s fault, is freeing and strengthening.

Change is Constant

Change is a huge part of life. After birth, only it and death are guaranteed, “Successful couples can expect and accept change,” licensed marriage and family therapist Stephanie Macadaan explains. “Growing and adapting with life experience and age is healthy, but it can feel threatening to some in their relationship. Recognizing that change is a part of life and flowing with it is key to a healthy relationship.”

Listening

Listening is an important, and still often underrated, part of any interaction with others. It is especially important in romantic relationships according to Rori Sassoon, a relationship expert and founding partner of Platinum Poire. She impresses the importance of listening and not just hearing in a relationship.

Resolve Fights

Don’t let your fights drag on and fester, it can do real damage to your relationship. Jonathan Bennett, a Columbus, Ohio-based dating and relationship coach iterates, “a little space and time might be necessary for everyone to calm down and be more rational, but, a refusal to make up, especially as ‘punishment,’ can be very toxic to a marriage.”

Date Night!!

“Couples who remain happily married also continue to date each other, even in a long-term commitment or marriage,” Jim Seibold, a Texas-based marriage and family therapist, tells. “They are purposeful about spending time and energy on each other. They find ways to demonstrate love, kindness… They make sure their partner knows without a doubt they are loved, even when they don’t feel particularly lovable at the time.”

Finances

Money can be an issue in relationships, however, in successful relationships there is no shying away from the financial topic. Therapist Kurt Smith said that fighting about money is a commonly-cited reason for ending a relationship, in an interview with HuffPost. Don’t let it get that far, converse and plan financially together.

Your Own Identity

Spending time together and having relatable interests are a must, but so is doing things individually and doing things apart. “A healthy balance between common interests and individual interests keeps the relationship fresh and interesting,” Maccadaan advises. “Becoming too merged with each other creates a stifling environment that can feel suffocating.”

Why So Serious?

Great long term relationships do require more serious conversations, but don’t get stuck in serious mode. Remember to laugh easily and have fun with your partner. clinical psychologist Dr. Samantha Rodman emphasised the importance of sharing funny moments with your significant other.

Communication

Communication is key in all relationships. As psychotherapist Jessica Meiman explains, “long-term, healthy relationships foster intimacy, which invites and welcomes often uncomfortable conversations in order to work and talk through issues, and come out, together, on the other side.” In a healthy long-term relationship, you should be free to discuss anything.

Gratitude and Appreciation

We can all fall into the trap of taking things for granted and failing to show appreciation. In your relationships, fighting this habit is a sure-fire way to strengthen and improve your situation. It makes sure your partner doesn’t feel underappreciated, and we all tend to be quick to tell what we don’t like. So, balance it out with what you do like too.

Be Realistic

When it comes to love and relationships, especially, there are a lot of fantasies and fairy tales floating about. But in truth even the best relationships are no fairy-tales. “You are not going to live ‘happily ever after’; you will actually ‘live; happily, angrily, joyfully, sadly, etc. ever after,'” Macadaan says. “Understand that all relationships have down times, and rather than getting rattled and frustrated and less committed, approach those times with curiosity and as a learning experience, that will make your relationship stronger.”

#Aadhaar #biometric #lock: Here’s how your details can be #safeguarded

Aadhaar biometric lock

Long before it brought in an extra firewall for privacy with the proposed virtual IDs, the Aadhaar-issuing authority UIDAI had set in place a ‘biometric lock’ as an additional layer of protection against outside intrusions or breach.

A lesser-known feature, the biometric lock in existing Aadhaar system is aimed at allowing users to safeguard or lock down their biometrics as and when they want. Aadhaar, which captures an individual’s personal details along with biometrics like fingerprint and iris, has been mandated to be used for authentication of identity with banks and telecom companies, among others. The authentication for mobile SIM (subscriber identity module) verification, for instance, is done by providing the 12-digit identifier together with biometrics.

The extent of Aadhaar usage can well be gauged from the fact that an average of 4 crore authentications are being done on a daily basis, while over 1,500 authentication have taken place so far. But not many know or perhaps use a feature called the biometric lock that allows a user to seal or lock their biometric information. User can ring-fence their biometrics by simply going to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website or its app, and choosing the option and entering their Aadhaar number. A registered mobile number is essential to avail this service.

Once the lock clicks into place and the system is enabled, it will simply not accept a biometric request, much like a physical lock blocking an unauthorised access. A user can unlock for specific transactions and then lock the biometrics back again. When residents enable biometric locking system, their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar holder chooses to either unlock it (which is for a temporary period) or disable the locking system, an official said.

UIDAI CEO, Ajay Bhushan Pandey says that the idea behind the facility was to “rule out” possibility of anyone even attempting to misuse biometric information. The Aadhaar-issuing authority expects the existing biometric lock feature along with new virtual ID facility being rolled out in coming months to address various security and privacy concerns. The UIDAI, last week, announced the biggest overhaul of the system by allowing Aadhaar owners to create and use a virtual ID to avoid sharing their unique identity numbers, when using government and other services.

Users will, from March 1, have the option of generating a 16-digit virtual identity mapped to their Aadhaar number that can be shared with telecom companies and others at the time of authenticating their identity. From June 1, 2018, it will be compulsory for all agencies, which undertake authentication, to accept the virtual IDs from their users. Agencies that do not migrate to the new system to offer this additional option to their users by the stipulated deadline, will face financial disincentives.

The move aims to strengthen the privacy and security of Aadhaar data, and comes amid heightened concerns around the collection and storage of personal and demographic data of individuals. As many as 119 crore biometric identifiers have been issued so far, and Aadhaar is required as an identity proof of residents by various government and non-government entities.

For instance, the government has made it mandatory for verifying bank accounts and PAN to weed out black money and bring unaccounted wealth to book. The same for SIM has been mandated to establish the identity of mobile phone users.

How often should you be washing your #hair, anyway?

washing your hairOne of the major concerns that women face when it comes to hair care is about the frequency of a hair wash. You’ve heard that hair needs to be washed at least twice a week, but you’ve also heard that shampooing your hair too regularly can damage your tresses. So, how often should you actually wash your hair? What are the factors you need to take into consideration while making this decision?

We get into the details of all that hair washing entails, and hope to help you answer this age-old question.

Your hair is unique:
There’s a reason why most of these types of articles start with a statutory warning. Everybody’s hair is different, and there are a number of external circumstances that need to be considered before settling in to a regime, as it can affect the health of your hair directly. And let’s not even get started on how genes affect your hair. All in all, it is important to be aware that what worked for someone else might not work for you, even if you have the same hair texture. You have to keep experimenting and changing your regime till you find one that works for your hair perfectly. We’d suggest you keep up with a regime for a week at least, before you incorporate any changes, as that’s how long it’d usually take to know if something is working or not.

Your lifestyle dictates your hair health:
Washing hair once in three days might work for someone who has a relatively sedentary lifestyle, but for someone who works out every morning and finds her hair to be greasy, sweaty, and oily more regularly, it won’t work. Similarly, your eating and drinking habits also have a say in how often your hair needs washing. But one thing similar for all of us is the gradual dryness that comes along as we age. At this time, regular conditioning takes precedence over even regular shampooing.

You don’t need to worry about oil:
Most of us get into this cycle where we use products to rid our scalp of the oils that it naturally produces, because we feel our hair gets too greasy, and then spend our weekends slathering on organic, essential oils to provide our hair with nourishment. But the fact is, the oil that your scalp produces naturally is the best product you could ever use for your hair. It is biologically targeted at you, and works best for your hair. In fact, we would also suggest that you approach any product that promises to get rid of these natural oils with caution.

You should attempt to stay away from sulphates:
Sulphates are a common ingredient in shampoos and conditioners. They act as surfactants that attract dirt and oil, pulling it away from the scalp and the hair shaft, and cleansing your hair in the process. The problem with this is that these sulphates obviously can’t distinguish between the natural oil that your scalp produces, and the grease and sweat that accumulates through the day. Sulphates just strip away these natural oils, making them quite harmful to the hair. We’d suggest you invest in some good sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners for regular use.

You can fake a hair wash, and you should:
Yep. You heard that right. As you must have figured by now, shampooing your hair too regularly causes the oils to be stripped away, thus damaging your hair. But it’s not the washing that’s the problem, it’s only the shampoo. Most times, you’ll be able to rinse your hair off the excess sweat and grime with just water, without losing all the good oils in your hair. Just wet your mane completely, and massage your scalp with your fingertips before rinsing your hair with water. You can even use a conditioner in this process, but only use the product downwards from mid-shaft.

Get #prettier #feet without a #pedicure with these 5 care #tips

Foot care at home

Avoid all acetone products on your feet:

Acetone is highly harsh on your nails, as it dries out the natural oils from them. Say no to acetone nail polish removers and opt for the acetone-free options for stronger and healthier nails.

Don’t soak your feet:

Remember all those times you soaked your feet in water, brimming with pride as to how careful you were about your care regimen? The truth is, you were only stripping the natural oils from your feet. Next time, just wash your feet with some mild soap instead.

Exfoliate all the way:

Exfoliation is a mandatory process when it comes to caring for your feet. It helps in getting rid of all those pesky dead skin, to leave your feet feeling smooth and soft. Just use a pumice stone on your feet regularly for softer, prettier feet.

Get a foot massage:

If you’re really looking into taking proper care of your feet, we urge you to go for regular foot massage. Massaging some moisturiser onto your feet everyday helps lock in moisture and keeps your feet feeling supple for longer.

Change your diet:

Make sure your diet includes a lot of calcium to walk your way to healthier feet. Foods like green leafy vegetables, fish and almonds are great for adding calcium to your diet, and will help tremendously in taking you one step closer to the feet of your dreams.

How to #Trace a #Mobile #Phone #Location from an #Android #Device

Ever since smartphones have existed, people have wanted to know how to trace a mobile phone location. The reasons vary. Some people want to keep a close watch on their children or a spouse. Others want to travel with friends and make sure no one gets separated. And some are just looking to find a lost device.

Whatever your reason for wanting to trace the location of a mobile device, these days, there are countless ways to do so. It’s much easier today than it was years ago. So many people are voluntarily sharing their location with friends and family.

Both Android and iPhone come with built-in location tracking utilities, so long as the location services (GPS) on those phones is enabled, and the owner has provided the application with permission to share their location. The following are a few ways you can take advantage of those location-tracking services if you own an Android phone (even if the phone you want to trace is an iPhone).

Trace a Mobile Phone Location With Device Manager

Tracing the location of your Android phone really couldn’t get any easier. So long as you have location services on your Android turned on, you can visit Google’s Android Device Manager’s Find My Device page to get the location of your phone.

You do need to be logged into your Google account and provide the service permission to collect location information.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device android location1

Once you do, you’ll see the precise GPS-location of your phone identified by a small green icon on Google Maps.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device android location plain blurred 563x316

To the left of the map, you’ll see three services that you can use if your phone is not currently in your possession.

  • Play a sound: This feature will ring your phone for five minutes even if the sound is set to silent. If the phone is anywhere in your vicinity, you should hear it.
  • Lock: If you know your phone is lost, you can make sure it’s locked so no one can open it and see all of your information.
  • Erase: If you’ve lost all hope of finding your phone and want to ensure your sensitive information on the phone isn’t discovered, you can remotely (and permanently) erase everything.

It’s a good idea to make sure you’ve enabled location services on your phone and provided Google with permission to trace your phone location. This way, if it ever does get lost, you can quickly enable one of these features and protect your information.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device android location3

Also, the lock feature alone could end up helping you retrieve your phone. It lets you display a message to whoever found it (if anyone did). It also lets you provide a phone number where they can reach you to arrange a time and place to get your phone back.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device android location4

In addition to the page above offered by Google, under your Google account. there’s also a Find Your Phone page where there are even more features available.

This page will show you a list of every device you’ve used to log into your Google account. You can select the phone or tablet that you want to locate from this list.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device find my device2

Once you do, you’ll see a long list of utilities you can use, similar to the Android Device Manager.

  • Check recent security events: This will show you a log of any recent password change or reset requests submitted to Google.
  • Lock your phone: You can immediately lock your phone so no one can access it.
  • Try calling your phone: Gives you access to your contacts list (to find your number if you forgot it) or a Google Hangouts session so you can call your phone.
  • Sign out of Google on your phone: This will log you out of your Google account on the device, so that nobody with that device can access your Google account information.
  • Erase your phone: This will immediately erase all information from your phone.

Pressing the “Locate” link on the right side of this page is obviously the easiest and fastest way to trace a mobile phone location — it’ll provide the map shown above, and you’ll know exactly where to go pick up your phone.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device find my device3 1

The option to lock your phone will provide the person who found your phone with a call button they can press (and a customized message you can write to them). This way, they can use your phone to call you at whatever number you specify. This makes it as easy as possible for whoever has your phone to help you get it back. They don’t even have to dial a number — all they have to do is press the green button!

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device find my device4

Keep in mind that the option to “erase your device” will wipe out everything that Google has access to on the phone. It’s possible that Google may not be able to erase any additional memory cards you added to your phone. Also, note that the moment you erase your phone, Google account information is lost as well. You will no longer be able to use any of the services above to locate or ring your phone.

So, obviously use the “erase” feature as a very last resort. You should use it only if you’re fully convinced that you’ve lost your phone and will never get it back. You may want to do this when the battery status on the phone has reached single digits, and you’re likely to lose contact with the phone anyway.

Tracking an iPhone on Android

Is it an iPhone that you want to track the location of? No worries. Even though you’re working from an Android device, you can still trace the location of an iPhone using Apple’s Find My iPhone service. But there is a catch.

If you try to visit the iCloud page to find your iPhone location, you’ll notice that the web page says your browser isn’t supported.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device browserfail 1

This is Apple’s way of sticking it to Android users. But that’s okay, because Android users have a way around that. All you have to do is click on the menu icon in the upper right side of the browser window and click the “Request desktop site” in the drop-down list (assuming you’re using the mobile Chrome browser — which you should be.)

Once you enable this, the sign-in page for iCloud comes up just fine. Sign into your iCloud account, and voila — a map will appear with the precise location of your iPhone.

How to Trace a Mobile Phone Location from an Android Device findiphone 1

Just like in the case of your Android phone, you do need to have location services enabled. You’ll also need Find My iPhone enabled on your iPhone before you can use this service. So don’t hesitate — enable that feature today just in case you do end up losing your iPhone at some point.

The Find My iPhone feature has saved countless Apple owners over the years. Now you know how to trace the location of your iPhone even if the only device anyone else in your household owns is an Android phone.

Trace a Mobile Phone Location with Other Apps

Maybe you’re more interested in tracing the phone location of your family or your friends, and not just your own phone.

It’s very important to understand that there is not a single app out there that will show you the location of any cellphone just based on a cellphone number. Any app on the Google Play Store that claims to do this is a scam. The only way you can ever trace the location of a mobile phone is by installing software onto that phone. The phone owner must also give permission to enable the location services on the phone.

The good news is that many people out there willingly and freely share their GPS location with the entire world. Yes, even many of your own friends.

Smartphone Location via Facebook

If you go into your Facebook app on your phone, click on the menu and scroll down, you’ll see a “Nearby Friends” link. Click on this, and you’ll see just how many of your Facebook friends have enabled sharing their location with friends on Facebook (or unwittingly shared it).

This area of the Facebook app will show you how recently your friend last logged into Facebook. It also shows what location they were in when they did so. This is probably the easiest way of any to identify the location of your friends through their cellphone. But it only works if they’ve enabled the location feature in Facebook.

Another way Facebook is offering location-tracking is through the Messenger app. As we recently announced, Facebook now offers users the ability to share their live location with anyone via the Facebook Messenger app.

This is accomplished from inside Messenger by pressing the “+” icon to the left of your message, and choosing the location icon.

This will show the message recipient a small map with the location of your smartphone on it.

Share Your Location on Google Maps

Have you ever wondered how celebrities always look stunning in spite of age or troubles? We at Bright Side confess to being a little jealous of them, but we understand they’ve got an army of personal beauty experts to help.

However, the fundamentals of effective care are simple and available to anyone. Let’s take a look together!

1. Don’t discount the benefits of sunscreen.

Beautiful and healthy skin can’t be achieved without regular use of sunscreen. Mamie McDonald, a cosmetics expert who worked with Madonna, says that any other efforts you make will be in vain if you neglect this rule. Another celebrity cosmetologist, Dr. Lancer, advises the use of cream with SPF no less than 30, reapplied during the day.

2. Don’t overdry your skin if there’s an inflammation.

Most anti-spot creams contain benzoyl peroxide that dries the skin, aggravates inflammation, and increases production of sebum. Alcohol acts similarly, so you won’t get rid of spots like this. Dr. Harold Lancer recommends turning your attention to exfoliating with salicylic or lactic acid and cleansing masks with clay.

3. Never forget about your neck.

The neck is one part of a woman’s body that gives away its owner’s age almost at once, so it’s very important to take good care of it. The skin here is thin and requires care as delicate as your face does. Go further than your chin, and you’ll be fine.

4. Rub an ice cube into your skin.

Santa Monica dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban advises rubbing your face with an ice cube for a few seconds to prevent a dull complexion. This simple trick stimulates circulation, and your skin starts positively glowing.

5. Store your beauty accessories correctly.

Dr. Debra Jaliman warns against storing your beauty items in the bathroom because the warm and humid air makes them expire more quickly. Face creams and other beauty accessories you don’t frequently use should be stored in the fridge.

6. Keep everything that touches your skin clean.

Dr. Lancer says you shouldn’t ever touch your face with dirty hands. Change pillowcases at least once a week if you have dry or normal skin type or once every three days if your skin is oily. Clean your smartphone screen from time to time.

7. Don’t use scrubs and face sponges, especially if you’re prone to acne.

Christie Kidd, a skin care specialist from Beverly Hills, recommends never using any abrasive skin care products (scrubs, sponges, brushes) if you have acne: this only leads to graver inflammation. Any skin type needs delicate cleansing without soap, and to reduce reddening and inflammation, apply a water-and-aspirin paste to the spots.

8. Facial massage will help get rid of circles under your eyes.

Ole Henriksen recommends lymph drainage massage against circles under the eyes. The procedure stimulates lymph flow, the skin smoothes, and the “bags” disappear. Besides, you can even do it at home — it’s not difficult to learn.

9. Take care of your hands.

Hands require as much care as the neck because the skin there is thin and delicate. Try doing your chores in gloves, and regularly moisten your skin with cream. You can also apply anti-age creams to your hands as well as your face. And don’t forget sunscreen!

10. Cleanse your skin thoroughly.

Dermatologist Debra Jaliman points out that you shouldn’t ever go to bed with makeup on. If you do that, you’ll end up with blocked pores and inflammations. Simple as it sounds, many still neglect this advice.

11. Always take off your bra before going to bed.

As much as you might be tempted to leave your bra on before sleep, hearing all the stuff about your breasts becoming perkier thanks to this, doctors warn against it. A bra, especially a tight or wired one, constricts your blood circulation, leading to health problems. In addition, it causes skin irritation, restlessness due to discomfort, and darkening of the skin under the straps and wire.

#WhatsApp launches new #update, find out what it is

WhatsApp has once again come out with yet another update for its users. The messaging app has rolled out a subtle change that will encourage users to make video calls instead of voice calls.

WhatsApp has once again come out with yet another update for its users. The messaging app has rolled out a subtle change that will encourage users to make video calls instead of voice calls. WhatsApp has released a beta update that introduces a new video call switch button. It appears when you’re in the middle of a WhatsApp voice call, and tapping it will send a request to the person you’re talking to, asking if they want to switch from voice to video. Previously, users had to cut the call to switch from a voice call to a video call. As per the report on WABetaInfo, the feature currently works on Android devices with Android 6.0 and above. WhatsApp in its previous beta version had rolled out features like Facebook stickers, a new layout for the GIF button and option to manage groups by demoting or removing members from the group. The messaging app has also hinted at group voice and video calls on the app. An option to reply privately to a group member was also seen in one of the previous beta updates

The Facebook-owned messaging app in 2017 had rollout some massive changes for its users. One of which was ‘Delete for everyone’. The messaging app had finally heard the voice of millions of users and introduced this new feature that allows the users to delete messages that have been sent by a mistake. This feature is applicable to both individual and group chats. All file types such as messages, videos, images, files, etc. can be deleted using this feature.

Another feature that was launched was ‘WhatApp for Business’. Unlike all the other features, this is a standalone app which allows the users to communicate with businesses they care about. The verified profiles will make it easier for businesses to reach out to consumers via WhatsApp. The verified accounts will get a green badge with a white tick next to their names. And, users will not be able to delete the sent messages.
